Security in Club House Car Park
Posted by Judy Lambourne on 10 May 2018
You may have already heard, or seen reports on social media, of an unpleasant incident that occurred at the Lant on Tuesday evening. One of our tennis club members was subject to a car jacking in the Lant car park. He was confronted by 3 hooded men at around 10pm, they demanded his car keys and sped off in his 4 week old car. He is obviously shaken up by what happened, but is thankfully physically ok.
Shortly before the incident, several club members had been walking through the carpark, as play had just finished on the tennis courts and a Cricket Committee meeting had just ended. Several members were still present inside the clubhouse whilst the incident took place. The police attended quickly and were at the club for about an hour last night. Dom is meeting with the police tomorrow to review what CCTV footage we have.
Whilst you hear of these incidents happening from time to time around the community, it’s concerning that it can happen at our club. The Sports Association will be discussing this at our next board meeting, to review whether there is any action we could take to enhance security.
