Start Date: 21 Mar 2019 20:00
End Date: 21 Mar 2019 22:00

It is March 1946. In the past year, Winston Churchill has led Britain and the Allies to victory in the European Theatre of World War II. He has also shockingly been defeated for re-election as Prime Minister. In CHURCHILL, the influential Nobel Prize laureate discusses his failures and his successes; his love of art, liquor and women; and the bravery of Britain’s finest hour.
John Whitehead, a local historian, will be delivering a one-man play on Churchill, in costume. I have watched this before at another sailing club and one could hear a pin drop during it. You might recall John's talk in 2018 on Shackleton, which was also riveting.
In case anyone is wondering, this is not a slippery slope to stuff not on sailing, it is a one-off exception and one which I will expect you will enjoy. You will also recall that earlier in his life, Churchill as a Liberal MP for Dundee, was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1911-1915.
