OVERVIEW

Here's an opportunity to gain your Short Range Certificate (SRC).  It's a pre-requisite to being a Skipper and is a very useful skill to have on board.  You'll learn how to make routine calls as well as emergency calls in a classroom situation.

The operator’s Licence involves homework, (3 hours prior study at home), 7 hours in a classroom and a 1 hour exam. Alternatively, there is an online course available.

During the one-day session you will practice on Digital Selective Calling Radio Sets and complete exercises. In addition, you will learn how the modern DSC Radio fits into the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System.

Vic Stuthridge is running 2 one day courses at The Lant (Clubhouse) on 6 May and 24 June, in addition to the 'anytime' online course.

COST

The Course Fee is £95 (Inc. RYA VHF Handbook G31).  There is also an Examination Fee of £76 which is payable to the RYA.

If you wish to take the online option and have an online completion certificate, then the examination only will cost £76 plus a £10 facility fee.
