Peter Smerdon will lead the first 'Land Cruise' of 2025 exploring some of the countryside around Kenilworth before moving back into the town for a pleasant walk around this ancient and rapidly developing town, looking at some of the history - ancient and more modern.
Park in the free car park just to the north of Leicester's Gatehouse - post code CV8 1ND should get you there - meeting at 10am for a prompt 10.15am start. If this car park is full, park on the road on Castle Hill. The car park at the Queen and Castle pub requires payment.
The walk goes round the castle, then to the west, subsequently looping round back into Kenilworth, passing the cars. The distance at that point will be 4.5 miles and if you wish, you can stop and call it a day, or go and sit in the Clarendon Arms to await the rest of the group. They'll be doing a further 3 miles around the town.
As ever, bring a packed lunch and something to sit on. If you plan to join the walk drop Peter an email.
