HOEOCA Social Events
It's not all sail, sail sail! We host a range of social events for our members throughout the year, from speaker nights and social evenings to pig roasts and suppers.
Speaker nights
These are fun and informative evenings which combine an invited speaker talking about a relevant topic and a social evening. Past speakers have included:
- Lloyd Hamilton, Warrant Officer - Royal Engineers, and Tanya Brookfield, co-founder of Toe in the Water, speaking about the benefits competitive sailing organised by the charity.
- Professional skippers Dan and Em of Skyelark of London.
- Stewart Caruthers, RYA Cruising Manager, talked about the RYA and what they are doing for cruising sailors.
These are always held on the Third Thursday of every month - see the Events calendar for information.
Club nights
These enable members to contribute their thoughts and ideas to the Association and to relax and socialise with fellow members.
These are always held on the First Tuesday of every month - see the Events calendar for information.
Other Social Events
Our Laying Up Supper is an annual event where we get together for a night of revelry in the name of a good cause. We also participate in other activities, including a tastebud-tantalising Pig Roast and a dose of dinghy sailing, to ensure that our members have plenty to take part in when we're not on the water! This year, this will be held at Olton Mere Sailing Club, on the July First Tuesday (July 5th 2011).
