Social - Trinity House 18 February 2019

Following a successful Speaker Evening presentation by Captain William Wells many members expressed an interest in visiting Trinity House which is of great significance to all shipping and seafarers.

Tours of the building only take place on Monday afternoons at 3pm and Trinity House limit the group size.  We are booked for a tour on Monday 18th February 2019. The duration approximately 75 minutes

So that we can make a day of it, we also have a group booking on HMS Belfast, a museum ship on the River Thames and operated by the Imperial War Museum.  It's not too far from Trinity house so we can do both.

Shared cost of the trip should not be more than £55, and probably less.

We have booked a 20 seat coach so we can travel together.

As this is a social event some members will be accompanied by friends/ family

To check for space please contact Maureen using the social@hoeoca.org.uk address.

The coach will leave Balsall Common at 0830, we hope to be in London by late morning and allow ourselves a bit more than a couple of hours on HMS Belfast.

Trinity House expect us to arrive earlier so the tour can commence at 3pm and lasts about  75mins. We should be ready to leave London by 4.30 for return to Balsall Common.

Trinity House is governed under a Royal Charter and is the official General Lighthouse Authority,  It provides and maintains lighthouses, light vessels and buoys and maritime radio/satellite communication systems. it is an official deep dea pilotage authority and also a maritime charity. The building promises to be of huge historical interest and not only to mariners.

HMS Belfast is permanently moored on the River Thames and is part of the Imperial War Museum.  Aboard we can explore what life was like living at war and at sea.

All members who have already expressed an interest will be contacted after the Autumn Rally and enquiries are welcomed from others.

Once your place has been confirmed you will need to pay a deposit of £25.

The balance will be due by 18th January
