Training - Skipper Development Programme September 2018

For 2018, the regional RYA is contributing funding for the development of skippers for all the cruising clubs in the Midlands. The programme, which is very much based on the HOEOCA development activities in 2016 & 2017, incorporates an introductory evening sesssion, 2 training weekends (Friday night - Sunday afternoon) and 1 to 1 follow up sessions with a personal development plan.

Like our programme, this has been put together with the intent of encouraging and developing potential skippers within the club. The places will be allcated across all the clubs in the region and so the process is competitive.

The programme is not intended to replace the RYA training scheme nor to teach boat handling, but to develop the boat management and softer skills that skippering for a club requires. Training has already taken place in April and May and further sessions are planned for this September.

The cost, with the benefit of the RYA subsidy and a contribution from HOEOCA, will be c£300.

You need to apply to the RYA and application form can be downloaded RYA Skipper
