Training - Skipper Development Programme Spring 2019
For 2019 the RYA Midlands Regional Volunteer Team will facilitate the Skippers Development programme once again for RYA Affiliated cruising clubs in the Midlands. The programme, which is based on HOEOCA's own Skipper Development in 2016 & 2017, comprises two on the water training weekends.
The RYA will subsidise the cost by £100 per participant and the cost per person will be £400 for the two weekends. Any Club Members chosen to participate in the programme will be invited to apply to HOEOCA for a further subsidy of up to £100.
The programme will be run by Keith Harding at RYA Training Centre Reach 4 the Wind and he will be your contact. The syllabus that has been developed is not intended to replace RYA training courses. Although there will be opportunities to hone your boat handling skills, the main focus is to develop the boat management and softer skills that skippering for a club requires. The minimum entry requirement for this programme is Dayskipper practical or equivalent.
Like our programme, places are limited and candidates will be selected according to their experience, qualifications and the need of the RYA Affiliated Club they are representing. The minimum qualification to participate in the programme is Dayskipper Practical or equivalent.
Practical sessions 5-7 April; 10-12 May
