Social - Liverpool 11 May 2018 "The Danny"

We are planning to visit Liverpool for the day on Friday 11 May 2018.

We'll meet and make our way to Albert Dock for 11.45am  where The Daniel Adamson, a steamboat originally built in 1903 and now restored to Art Deco splendour will be static in readiness for the steam event. Cost for the tour is per person £5.  There's more information on The Danny here.

The afternoon will be free to lunch and visit Merseyside Maritime Museum, where the entrance is free. Those who wish to return the same day can make use of specific evening trains to take advantage of cheapest fare.

Travel - The idea is to travel on Advance Off-Peak Rail tickets from Birmingham New Street at 0936 arr Lime Street 1110

Members should book train travel independently so that any concessionary cards can be utilised and the return can be varied to suit.

Travel Update on 16 February 2018 - Advance Off Peak Rail tickets released today for Friday 11 May.  Anyone who wishes to travel from Birmingham to Liverpool and back on the same day can take advantage of a really good saving, but be aware availability is limited, times must be specified and there is no cancellation so check the small print and the times you want to travel.  The fare is approx £9.50 each way or less for concessionary card holders. Suggested outbound train leaves Birmingham New Street at 0936. (I've booked this one)

If you would like to stay over and return the next day, then keep a check for 12 May to be released on the cheapest fare

"Steam On The Dock" is scheduled to take place 12 & 13 May. There is some information about the 2017 event online until further details are published for this year. Some members may wish to stay over and take in this event too. There are lots of other attractions to investigate in the vicinity; sample LIverpool nightlife, enjoy a G & T on The Quay, even the Terracotta Army is in town

There are a number of hotels to stayover - for example the Holiday Inn on Albert Dock is reasonable priced and situated in a converted warehouse or try Novotel which is midway between Lime Street and Albert Dock

Advance Organiser - We are hoping to secure a Speaker from The Daniel Adamson Trust for our October Speaker Evening.
